Neuroma is a foot nerve injury caused by a nerve tumor. It is a benign tissue found between the third and fourth toes. The symptoms are foot and toe pain, burning sensation, or numbness between the toes. The symptom most associated with neuroma is toe pain while walking. Those suffering from neuroma often find toe pain relief by not walking, taking off their shoe foot and rubbing the affected area. Biomechanical deformities, such as a high-arched foot or a flat foot, can lead to the formation of neuroma.
These types of feet bring instability causing toe joint pains. Trauma can cause damage to the nerve, resulting in inflammation and foot swelling.
